Enhanced Exterior: Lakeville, MN Home Gets a Remodel

October 22, 2024 | Exteriors

A fresh exterior can make your home look like it was built in modern times. Homeowners of this multi-level 1996 home in Lakeville, MN reached out to James Barton Design Build (JBDB) with a vision to transform the exterior of their home.

Enhancing an Exterior

While this may not be a forever home, the homeowners wanted to make the most of their time here while enhancing curb appeal. When they initially turned to JBDB, they were ready to explore creative possibilities on how to bring a fresh and modern look to upgrade their home and increase their property value.

Overcoming Design Challenges

One common design challenge we face when renovating the exterior of a home is to modernize the exterior while ensuring the redesign integrates and complements existing architecture.

With the Lakeville property being built in 1996, JBDB sourced materials that would breathe new life into the home for a sleek and elevated look, such as textured rock and vertical siding. Can you believe that this is the same house?

Stunning Standout Features

This remodel included several standout features from high-quality brands to transform the Lakeville home’s appearance:

  • James Hardie board and batten siding for modernization
  • Stone wainscoting to add a natural texture to the front
  • Euroface lighting for an elegant and uplifting appearance
  • Clopay garage doors to provide a functional yet stylish entrance
  • Therma-Tru front door to create a sleek entry

—And last but most certainly not least, we used a durable and vibrant Shermin-Williams paint with a contrasting darker tone on the upper level. The two-tone, neutral palette aligned perfectly with the homeowner’s contemporary style and created a cohesive look.

A Collaborative Process with Exceptional Results

Morgan Longhenry, the lead designer for this project, guided the way with creativity and expertise, ensuring every detail fit the homeowners’ vision and met their expectations.

This remodel showcases how a thoughtful exterior can revitalize a dated home with the use of new siding, textures, and colors. Whether the homeowners stay for a few more years or look for a forever home, they can now enjoy their home’s new exterior with remarkable curb appeal.

“The final result is even better than I imagined. The colors all tie in nicely to the rest of the siding on the elevations that we were keeping, which was one of the main goals of this project. The homeowners were great to work with throughout the whole process, and I hope they get to enjoy it for however long they decide to stay in their home,” said a JBDB designer.
