Project Philosophy
From my perspective, the most important part of a successful renovation is the design phase. Taking the time to fully understand the homeowner’s goals, finalize decisions, and work through details before construction begins creates a smoother process and a clearer understanding of what the finished project will look like.
Communication and scheduling are also key. Keeping homeowners informed throughout the process and establishing a detailed project timeline before construction starts helps set expectations and keeps everyone aligned.
Local Expertise
I enjoy working on homes with compartmentalized layouts and disconnected main levels, which are common in many older homes. These projects provide an opportunity to rethink how the space functions and create a more cohesive main floor by opening up kitchens and connecting adjoining rooms.
My favorite spaces to transform are kitchens and primary bathrooms. Kitchens are often the center of the home, where families cook, gather, and entertain, so improving the layout can completely change how the space feels and functions. Primary bathrooms offer a different kind of transformation by creating a more comfortable retreat through improved layouts, walk-in showers, and better storage.
Design-Build Value
The biggest advantage of a design-build approach is having the design, construction, and project management teams working together from the beginning. It’s a “one-stop shop” for clients looking for design, build, and project management. With everyone involved throughout the process, there is a shared understanding of the goals, details, and expectations for the project.
This approach also helps reduce miscommunication that can happen when homeowners work with separate design and construction companies. Having one team guiding the project from concept through completion creates a more connected and streamlined experience.
Life Outside JBDB
Outside of work, I enjoy golfing, playing volleyball, spending time at the lake and cabin, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers.
