Project Focus
Architectural layout reconfigurations, structural space openings, and historic craftsmanship updates
Project Philosophy
I believe a successful renovation is all about planning, good construction documents, and communication throughout the process.
I enjoy solving the problems that other contractors seem to shy away from. The problems that require thinking like an engineer to envision a solution. In most cases, contractors are better tradesmen than businessmen, but for me, the mechanical side comes as naturally as the actual business side. I enjoy that challenge.
Local Expertise
I have a special appreciation for the older, historic Craftsman-style homes found throughout the Twin Cities. These homes were built in an era when it took real craftsmanship to construct them.
While JBDB renovates a wide range of home styles, I enjoy the challenge that older homes present. Opening up their segmented layout usually involves a unique structural puzzle to safely alter walls and re-route structural loads while preserving features the homeowners do want to keep.
Design-Build Value
Compared to a company that only does construction or design, a design-build firm ensures continuity between design and the build phases. If you don’t start out with good construction documentation and a good game plan, you are setting production up for failure. If things are all planned out, the process is smooth, and it creates the results homeowners are looking for.
Life Outside JBDB
Beyond the jobsite, my passions take me outdoors, where I spend time with family and friends hunting, fishing, at the cabin, and soaking up the sun in Florida, where I travel in the winter.
